| Man Charged with Gross Vehicular Manslaughter after a Car Crash that Killed his Friend |
James Ralph Huff is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter for a 2009 car crash that killed his friend, 28-year-old Miguel Barahona. Huff was charged on March 24th with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. According to Farra Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange county district attorney's office, Huff was driving at speeds up to 100 miles per hour when he lost control of his 1996 Porsche. The car hit a curb, slammed into a tree, uprooting it, then smashed into a power pole. Huff was pulled out from the car, which caught on fire, by witnesses. The passenger, Miguel barahara, was burned to death in the car, Emami said. Huff could face up to 10yrs in prison.
