Angel Alberto Cruz Perez, 23, a Santa Ana man, after having 24 bottles of beer with a friend was involved a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a two year old boy.
Perez is charged with striking a mother who was carrying her 1-year-old daughter and holding the hand of her 2-year-old son last week as they crossed a street. The mother sustained scrapes on her knees; the 1 year old was unharmed; the 2 year old was killed.
Perez is charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence while intoxicated, driving under the influence causing bodily injury and hit-and-run with permanent injury or death. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of driving without a license.
Perez is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 16 years in state prison
