Los Angeles Out of State DUI Attorney
What can you do if you are an out-of-state driver who has received a DUI in Los Angeles County? For the past twenty-five years, I have been defending clients who live out of state and have been arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles or have an out-of-state license related to a DUI case.
In addition to giving the client the best-drunk driving defense available, our Los Angeles DUI lawyers pride ourselves in making it convenient and easy for our out-of-state clients to deal with their DUI cases.
In many cases, we can make most of the court appearances for the client and coordinate the case over the phone and through the mail. While still providing top-level service.
Our DUI defense law firm has no problem doing the consultation over the phone if you cannot come into the office. Once you retain us, we will make the first court appearance for you, send you a copy of the paperwork related to the case, and then discuss the best approach.
If possible, I like the client to come to court at least once to make sure they understand everything they must do to resolve their case successfully. However, if you can not make it to court, we can usually appear for you and use notarized waiver forms to deal with a plea if we decide that is the best way to handle your case.
Avoiding a DUI Bench Warrant
There is no reason for a bench warrant to be issued for your arrest because you cannot appear in court. Let our DUI attorneys put our experience and reputation to work for you. We have handled hundreds of cases for out-of-state drivers and pride ourselves in making the process easy, convenient and affordable.
Put a list of questions together and give us a call so we can start the process of putting this matter behind you in the most effective way possible! We will answer your questions, educate you on how the process works and design a plan that considers your unique circumstances.

Most states, California being one of them, following an agreement called the “Drivers License Compact,” in which conditions agree to share information about a person's driving history.
If you are a California resident convicted of DUI in Nevada, your California driver's license will likely be suspended along with your ability to drive in Nevada. On the other hand, if you are a Nevada resident convicted of DUI in California, your Nevada license will likely be suspended, and your right to drive in California.
Driver's License Suspension
Suppose you are arrested for driving under the influence in California and do not have a California driver's license. In that case, the arresting law enforcement can not confiscate your out-of-state license but can and will suspend your California driving privileges for 30 days.
From the date of your arrest, you have ten days to schedule a DMV hearing to challenge the suspension of your California driving privileges. Additionally, if your home state is a part of the Driver's License Compact, the California DMV will notify the state's motor vehicle department of your arrest and conviction.
Due to such consequences, a defense lawyer skilled in the DUI arena is a necessary tool for your drunk driving charge. Our DUI defense lawyers in Los Angeles have over 75 years of combined experience, and we handle DUI cases daily.
We get great results and fight aggressively on your behalf. We will handle your DMV hearing and your criminal proceeding. If you or someone you know faces a Los Angeles DUI case, call our law firm and set up a free case evaluation.
